I haven’t been able to see Deftones since 2017 and I didn’t tape that show. I was really excited to come to this show/festival to see some other bands as well (HEALTH and Idles) and they did not disappoint. I met up with TJ of ratm.live and lil tendies. We posted up shop in center field right in front of the soundboard for this one. HEALTH and Idles came out pretty good and it was nice to spend the evening with friends talking music and grabbing a few brews. It was one of 5 rainy evenings for the year in San Diego, so some of the show I had my hood up in order to protect the Schoeps. I was pretty surprised we got rain for this.
Deftones were fantastic! The set was a bit delayed due to issues up on stage, which I assume was from the rain. But they did not reduce any of the set because of the delay. I will say the sound was dialed down for most of every set for the day. Most likely with the condos all around Petco? But it did sound really crisp from where we stood at centerfield.
